This is the time of women in music
Feb 13, 2025 — Anne-Marie McDermott participates in the International Piano Festival.
American pianist Anne-Marie McDermott will participate in the International Piano Festival with a master class, two concerts with the UNAM Philharmonic Orchestra (OFUNAM), and a recital. For this performance, she has chosen works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Johannes Brahms, both of whom have had a decisive influence on her career. She is internationally recognized for her delicate interpretive ability.
“I chose this program because they are incredible compositions and three of my favorites: the English Suite No. 2 is a wonderful way to start a concert, as its first movement is very fast and immediately captures everyone's attention. The second is a suite of dances perfectly composed. The second work is deeper: the Chaconne , a very spiritual composition with contrasting dynamics. I'm sure the notes of this repertoire will fill the Nezahualcóyotl Hall in a beautiful way, as it makes the piano sound almost like an organ,” she commented.
“In the second half, I included my favorite Brahms piece. These variations are magical, ingenious, and captivating. I really enjoy the fugue section because it's very difficult to perform, but overwhelmingly beautiful. The ending is celebratory. A great way to conclude a concert.”
