In Brief | New World Symphony’s season-long “Resonance of Remembrance: World War II and the Holocaust” explores the meaning of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II with personal narratives from survivors, community discussions, visual art, and music old and new.

“Music allows us to remember the essence of time,” says Howard Herring, president and chief executive officer of the New World Symphony, reflecting on the premise of “Resonance of Remembrance: World War II and the Holocaust.” This months-long series of concerts, exhibitions, and seminars is being presented by the Miami Beach-based orchestral academy throughout the 2024-25 season. Beyond the impact of the events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II on South Florida audiences, Herring wants the organization’s musicians to gain “something of value in their artistic lives.”
